Just another hang up

Once a week I get an email from all free sewing.  Today's email was about 15 Quick Impressive Hostess Gifts...not that I give hostess gifts, it doesn't even occur to me and probably if it did I would rather stay at home than come up with a gift to give to the person who invited me over.
Side note
Once I invited someone from church over for lunch with her children and she brought me a hostess gift...it was a Mops flip calendar I think....it made me feel so awkward, I wasn't doing anything special, just had them over for lunch...I just wanted to be her friend, hostess gifts to me seem so formal...shows the circles I ran in. I do remember my uncle's Austrian wife always bringing something to whomever was cooking dinner but I always just associated it with Eva being giving, not as a requirement...which points out an obvious character flaw in myself...I must not be giving. I remember Jenette giving me a framed Flavia print, when she came to visit me once in Palm Bay after Emmett was born...Jenette is giving.
Off the rabbit trail now.
When I went to all free sewing and clicked on this idea, it took me here and here and this one I have looked at before and was so happy to look at again because it is adorable. These patterns are also lovely to look at but I know I will never make any of this stuff because I can't even keep my house clean let alone have time to sit and sew for hours on end...speaking of which, time to go do the dishes.

Direction

Tonight I allowed myself the luxury of blog hopping. I saw some loveliness that makes me want to redo my whole house...not really a possibility as I looked around my living room so I am calling for contentment to come back and make herself at home again. Hopefully she'll roost rather heftily.
From there I hopped over and read some funniness and encouragement to live simply.
Also from the Cottage Nest I jumped here to be amazed and hopefully encouraged to duplicate her efforts. Oh, my goodness, Tiffany was simply amazing.
That's my direction for this evening, what about you?

Whistle while you work

A couple of weeks ago I made the arm rest covers...not a very good picture, in real life the seem to match a little better...how embarrassing, but I'm all about transparency so there you go.

This year I only have one home doing Virtual School. While I entertained thoughts that my days would be freed up considerably to do all sorts of cleaning and crafting it hasn't happened yet. Instead of sitting at the table watching 3 boys struggle to stay focused doing their school work, there is only one...but he too must be watched...

Soooo,while I'm just sitting here... one thing that I have indulged in several times is my old hobby of blog hopping. The other day I found this lovely blog...being the naturally uncontent person that I am, immediately I start wishing that I was as creative and handy, and organized. Being a glutton for punishment, I go to her blog again today, this time seeking out the blogs she enjoys and found this. Beautiful homes, beautiful ladies...not too unlike the ladies listed in my sidebar. Hmmm, that makes me feel better....If I can't be the decorator I want, at least all you do me proud. So I thank you.
I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

Me Again

Almost 12 years ago I started watching Martha Stewart with John-Thomas...then Stewart came along and joined us then Emmett and last Elise. The kids have really enjoyed the cooking segmentsIt has been our routine to fix our lunch while watching her show. My slacker homeschool kids weren't doing enough work this past year to warrant that little reward so I can't even tell you how long since we have enjoyed our favorite past time. Yesterday, with the rain steadily coming down I felt the urge to curl up in my big chair with my big salad and see what was on Martha. It was pretty good....I didn't feel the urge to turn it on today...mostly because I was calling out Emmett's spelling words to him. While I was waiting for him to write down the words I did a blog hopping...something else I haven't done in a while (well actually I did it last week but before that it had been a while). One of the blogs I randomly looked at was Weekend by Heather Ross.......she was on Martha yesterday. So much fun, I had to tell you. Anything fun you have run across lately?
