under construction

Could it be?
no, not really...I needed a picture and found this on Josh's work camera, I have no idea where or what it is.
I think I am going to start counting calories.
It may be easier than writing down the foods I eat.
Yesterday when I started this post I also started writing down the calories, ran out of calories for the day at 2. Didn't know how many calories were in my coffee creamer and since it is 60 degrees in our house I have been drinking A LOT of coffee...maybe I should rethink that.
Never have been the least bit interested in counting calories, after all that involves numbers and I hate numbers, and the adding....ick.
But, did you read this inspirational weight lost story?
It has been running through my head a lot,
unfortunately I forgot about it just now when Josh called and I was standing in the kitchen and found a pan of brownies in the microwave that the boys had made last night.
There's another reason I haven't wanted to count calories, exactly how many calories did I just eat?
But if I did it the way Shabby Scraps/Tiffany did it then it wouldn't be all that difficult. She did not count fruits and veggies, so if I ate mostly that then there would be less to count?.!
Oh, I don't know.

Just in case you would like to be amused by some more random Gone with the Wind quotes, here is the site for you.

This morning on Air1 they said that even though Avatar has made the most money of any other movie in history, it hasn't sold the most tickets.
Gone with the Wind still holds that title.
Stewart wanted to know what that movie was about?
I tried to share my enthusiasm for it with him but something got lost in the translation.

Ran across this site today when looking for a pumpkin puree/cake mix recipe...can't believe how simple that is.

Distractions abound and so this is not an organized post, who am I kidding, most of my posts are a hodgepodge.

Taste and see

Psalm 78:18 They willfully put God to the test
by demanding the food they craved.
That verse always jumps out at me when I run across it. I know it is talking about the Israelites not being satisfied with Manna but it speaks to me on so many different levels. God provides for us and instead of being happy with the people he has put in my life or the house or the clothes or the church, etc...I start feeling a crave for a banana chocolate malt. Don't I realize I am willfully putting God to the test in the areas he has so abundantly provided for me?
Josh has gotten onboard to try Spark.com. If we follow their meal plans it will force me to buy more fruits and vegetables and hopefully eat them. Not that I did too bad before but there is always room for improvement.
I wrote the above at the beginning of last week....it's been a long week of still trying to get over the virus Elise brought home the first week of school. Hopefully this next week will be better.

Chronic

Saturday we used up the last bit on Josh's AMC gift card to see Night at the Museum 2. Then after lunch we headed to the downtown library. We had forgotten that the Jazz festival was going on and so we ended up walking around downtown and taking the Skyway Express across the river and back...why? because it was free and the kids enjoyed it. We did end up filling up our library bags...lots of Garfield comic books for the boys and barbie books for Elise. Nothing for me.....well, I did place a hold on the latest Sisters Grimm book...which technically would be for Stewart because he asked but you know I love that series too.

Yesterday during my jog on the treadmill I found this song by Third Day encouraging me to run not walk.
Today I latched onto a line from Caedmon's Call song Thankful

But you see, I'm running from the very clothes I'm wearing And dressed like this I'm fit for the chase

Yesterday there was much sneezing and Benedryl taking which also meant much sleeping and eating so I didn't get nauseated...
Today I put a scripture card in front of me but found it hard to focus on the words while combating my inner voice yelling at me that she hates exercising and wants to stop and then there's the lyrics to the songs vying for attention. Maybe a different verse would work better I don't know. I am chronically a failure but as the song goes:
I am thankful that I'm incapable
Of doing any good on my own
I'm so thankful that I'm incapable
Of doing any good on my own

I'm for you

I think the honeymoon phase is over for this exercise thing...doesn't mean we're going our separate ways, I'm just sayin that it has been a complete annoyance in my life this week...most of last week too. Therefore it comes as no surprise that a big smile comes across my sweaty face when this song pops up on the random mix cycle of my mp3:

Tell me where its hurting
Are you burning?
Running just to catch your breath
And going nowhere
It's getting old when you feel like you got nothing left
Well it ain't over 'til it's over
I told you since the day we met
So let me be the voice through all the noise
Whatever I gotta be
I'll be for you

The rest of the song "I'm for You," by TobyMac doesn't really apply to my attempts on the treadmill or the elliptical but the first part sure grabs my attention. Every time morning it has made me smile I thought...I have got to blog about this....and today I remembered. Is there anything you've been wanting to post about and keep forgetting? I hope this encourages you today and reminds you that I'm for you but most importantly...God is.
Love Emily

Green with Envy

This little lizard stayed posed in my Oak Hydrangea long enough
for me to go back in the house to get my camera!

Yesterday's verse of the day on Air1 has stayed with me for multiple reasons.
1 Samuel 16:7b "The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
When I started exercising 5 days a week, I said that I was doing it for mental well being, for my health and if I lost weight while doing so then I was all the better. Of course, that's what I said but as the pounds dropped off I kinda got excited. Then we had the Building Inspector party and a ton of not good for me food was left over and then the birthdays and then the cruise and today was not a good scale day to say the least. When I see skinny people that appear to eat whenever and whatever they want my heart goes a little green.

Belated

Last Thursday was my 37th birthday (Sherri, thanks for b-day wishes) and I started off the day sweating at 5 am to my tunes on the Elliptical and Treadmill at the Y and ended the day by blowing out the candles on diet orange cake on the Carnival Ship Sensation heading out on yet another 3 night cruise with family...compliments of my father. This cruise left out of Port Canaveral and sailed to Nassau, just like we had done twice before (out of Jacksonville) but this time there was a water park. We all had a good time. I got up early on Friday and used the ship's gym but didn't on Saturday. Probably should've though...because that diet orange cake wasn't the first dessert that I had eaten that night and I tried a fare share of anything sweet offered EVERY other meal. But I did run up and down the steps for the water slides and played a round of mini golf so it wasn't like I just sat on my bum the entire trip soaking up the sun.
I was leading in mini golf until the last several holes and then I moved to dead last! Craziness I tell you. We didn't go into Nassau, and had our run of the ship while everyone else was off on excursions.

Read The #1 Ladies Detective Agency...been hearing about it for years by several friends and I agree with them that it is a lovely read. Have any of you seen the tv show that is based on it? It's on cable and Susan has t-vo'd it so maybe I'll jog over to her house tonight to check it out.
