Here we go again

Stewart and Jonathon (Cathron's youngest son) checking out the boat
You know how things looked a lot bigger when you were a kid? When I was in third grade and my dad taught me to ski under no uncertain circumstances this boat seemed huge. There was loads of room behind the seat for me and my two sisters to sit while my grandfather and dad drove the boat. When my sister said that she was bringing the boat to me I had visions of putting some chairs behind the seat for my kids to sit on...(never did like sitting on the floor myself). Tonight when we took the cover off I saw differently. Cathron pulled the boat from Indiana to us because we don't have a hitch for our car and they were ready for it to go. Just the smell of the motor brought back so many memories. (Yes, I stuck my nose up to the motor. Crazy, I know). Cathron's husband doesn't enjoy mechanical tinkering but Josh enjoys the challenge on occasion. Hopefully it will be another thing for Josh to teach the boys about as well. He is very excited about the boat, his dad always had a boat. We never even considered getting one of our own and now it's sitting in a discreet place in our yard. I have dreams of teaching the kids to ski in the Arlington River. Memories and dreams all intertwined.

Looks like the boat's in great shape. I wish we still had the boat my dad and I sailed in. I just loved sailing with my Dad.

My sister had a cover made for it and kept it in a garage or covered for the past 13 years.

Your boat no matter the size difference (in your head) looks wonderful and full of memories, how exciting to pass those memories on to your boys.

I love nostalgic smells. The library elevator where I grew up had a very distinct smell. Anytime I get in an elevator that smells like that, it takes me back to elementary school.
