Truth be told

The maid popped by for a few minutes this morning after she spent all night in the hospital with her mom.  Said she had the urge to clean the exhaust hood over the stove.
She didn't like the Fantastic spray so she switched to Dawn Dish Washing Soap and it was amazing how clean she got the underside of the range hood. She also wiped down all the what-nots that sit on the back of the stove top, the kitchen windows and did a quick once over on the floors.
I like it when she stops by out of the blue like that.
For some reason I never notice how dirty an area is until she decides to show up.
I don't know what possessed her to scrub away like she did after being woken up every 30-40 minutes by hospital staff or machine bells dinging all night long.  Must've been the coffee her husband had waiting for her when she got home at 6:30 a.m.  Maybe it was the garden eggs she decided to make before she took her two oldest boys to school?
Who knows?
I'm just glad she did it.
That's twice this week she has showed.
Monday she was here for a while.
Cleaned Elise's room, vacuumed almost the whole house, did laundry, scrubbed the bathroom tub, dusted ceiling fans, and liberally sprayed fabreeze everywhere.
She probably went a bit over board on the spray.
I really liked the way she hauled a bag full of stuff to throw away out of Elise's room.  Truth be told she could probably have gathered enough to fill two bags but she had to go to another job.
I hope she comes by next week and works on my room, maybe she'll find the amber jewelry I picked up in Czech this summer for Christmas presents.
Losing Christmas presents seems to be a specialty of mine.

Maid Update

It's been a while since I gave you a maid update.
I know you've been wondering what she's cleaning lately or if she is even cleaning anymore?
Well, this morning she popped off the cover of the shower faucet with a screwdriver and bleached that and then unscrewed the plastic/crystal handle/knob and bleached that. The bathroom fan may very well be running all day because so much bleach was used on the tub and floor...is there a thing as too much bleach in a bathroom?
There is if there is only one bathroom and you pass out from bleach fumes every time you enter it.
Oh, well....it's done.
In the almost 15 years the maid has been cleaning bathrooms for me she has never taken that knobby thing apart to clean the gunk that builds up in there. She may get a raise. Oh wait, she's already getting to go out to lunch with one of her dearest friends today so that will be plenty. She's looking forward to that and is so glad the slight fever she had yesterday was just a passing virus, here one day and gone the next!
Is there anything unusual you have cleaned this week?

Social Security

I haven't talked about the maid in a while because frankly she hasn't been showing up.
Last night though, she dusted and straightened shelves...good thing too because Stewart had lost his summer reading assignment that was due today and it was nowhere to be found until the maid discovered it on the floor in his room...not on any shelves that were so diligently sorted through.
Then today the maid swept the floors like I have been doing everyday but in addition to that the floors were mopped with the very wonderful Hollaway House floor shiner. Now if only the handy man would put new floor guard thingies on the bottom of the chairs maybe the floor wouldn't look so dreadful after two days.
Even though Josh and I are planning on heading out tonight, it would be nice to have some come over while the house is a little clean.
The dishes are done, laundry done..and some put away.
Went to the Y today.
Emmet rode Elise's bike and I rode Emmett's bike up to Love Grove Elementary to pick up Elise and then I jogged back.
Nowhere on that list was Bible .....oooh wait a minute....
Last week I started reading a Proverb a day with the boys during breakfast, we were rushed this morning so Stewart read #5 out loud on the way to school.
Yikes that was one their dad should have read to them...and not on the way to school, like they really needed to hear about bosoms before being dropped off at middle school. God knows what they need so I'm trusting He's working it out.
Of course, it also talked about discipline and we all need that even if we aren't being called out to by an adulteress on the street corner...I'm sure I can apply it to the cupcake calling out to me from the corner of the counter!
5:23 He dies for lack of discipline, and because of his great folly he is led astray.

I lost my Social Security Card so I had to go to the SS office today because Josh needs to show proof of me for some reason for our insurance. Go figure. It should arrive in the mail in 7 -10 days...but I have already have socializing security because of the productiveness of today.
