Dwell

1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Last Sunday I read a challenge to read Psalm 23 five times a day for a week.
Oh boy.
To get to my Bible, to read it 5 times a day was a challenge.
I cheated.
Since it is a Psalm that I know fairly well, I recited it myself whenever I could remember.
Seems like I left out the comforting of the rod and staff quite a bit... subconcious or forgetful?
This week I would like to work on learning and reciting a different short Psalm...
I think the next one will be like a month long thing since I don't know any other Psalms by heart.
All the boys have had to memorize Psalm 121 so I do have a leg up on that one but really I would like to give a short one a go. Are you memorizing any scripture right now, and how do you go about it?

If you want a short one, try Psalm 100...or shorter still, Psalm 117, the shortest chapter in the bible.
Then again, how about Psalm 1?
At the retreat this week-end, the speaker was talking about memorizing scripture and remarked how many people say, "I just can't remember them." Then he said, "Finish this...Jeramiah was a ..." Followed by a loud BULLFROG!! Point made.

Glad you took the challenge. I found that I would forget some of the same lines... but now, they are part of me!
