Sisters

picture taken from here
Yesterday after I took the older boys to hear John McCain at the Veterans Arena they asked if we could go to the library. I owed it to them (I thought) since we woke up at 6 a.m. to avoid the lines of the 10,000 people expected to show up. Thousands showed up but not anywhere close to the numbers that RSVP.

At the library I picked up the third in the series The Sisters Grimm by Michael Buckley. It is a teen book so no big surprise that I finished it today. On the back it says "Sabrina finds a powerful weapon for fighting her enemies, and discovers that magic has a high price." Creatively the author takes every classic Fairy Tale and classic Childhood Tale and weaves a new story.

Last month I read Sister Circle by Vonette Bright and Nancy Moser. It had a little pinches of predictable Christian dialogue but the characters were surprising. I could see myself in everyone of the characters. It almost reminded me of the Mitford books but a little more trite.

So now I want to go and get the rest of the books in the The Sisters Grimm series...#3 was the only one on the shelf and I figured if it wasn't any good then I wouldn't need to start in the beginning anyway. But it was good, and it made me laugh and with 4 kids in the house I need something to laugh at besides the writing on the wall or body noises at the dinner table or the toilet seat always up.

Josh updated our computer and I can't post my pictures as easlily as I used to. I had pictures of my Confederate Rose I wanted to show you and the footstool that I made a slip cover for and dolly dresses I made for Elise and of my swollen ankle...Just joking I don't want to show you pictures of my swollen ankle.

I stepped off a curb on Sunday and my right foot turned under in a most unnatural way and I felt the worst pain in my life...if you can believe...worse than childbirth! Oh, yes it was that bad.
I felt like I was going to pass out. Josh knew that if I was in enough pain to pass out that I probably felt like throwing up too so he started praying silently that I wouldn't throw up on him. After the service he was supposed to count the money and didn't want to sit that long with throw up on him. God heard his prayers, I launched into my childbirth breathing and felt fine by the time we got to church. I took some Advil and didn't think about it until I was at my mom's to pick up the two younger kids yesterday when I told her about it and my foot was swelling out of my shoe. Yuck! I have it elevated with ice and am hoping in a couple of days I won't have to think about it anymore.

Have you ever thrown up on anyone?

When I was 6 in line with my sister for ice cream I threw up on the back of a total stranger but so far that's all.

Sorry to hear about your ankle. One time when I was young...Nick was about 2, he threw up in the car. Since my mom was driving she asked me to help clean it up until she could stop somewhere. I tried but threw up on top of his. My mom pulled over and pulled us all out of the car. She tried to clean it up, but threw up herself. So we closed the car that hot August day and called me dad home from work to clean it up.

Emmett threw up Goldfish crackers in the car once and almost made Stewart throw up too. Your poor dad...surprised he didn't throw up too. That sounds so gross.

Ouch...that is some serious pain with your ankle.

I haven't thrown up on anyone, but being a nurse I have been exposed to several of the body fluids of others!

When I was about 7 we were driving to North Carolina on their very curvy, narrow roads. I was sitting behind my father who was driving. I told him I was sick and needed to stop. Well, you then couldn't just stop without going over the side of the mountain. Before he could find a wide place, I threw up right down his back. And, I don't even remember him getting angry.

I don't think I ever threw up on anyone but I did twist my ankle on Wednesday. It was about 0430 and I was carrying one of our suitcases to the car and fell down a step and twisted my ankle. My foot looked like a PUFFED WHEAT until yesterday. It has been exactly one week and it is still sore but no longer puffy.
Hope you are feeling better now, too.
