Sunday School

I was told a couple weeks back that my help could be used in teaching the 2cnd and 3rd grade Sunday School class. Last year I was asked to help with the preschoolers and after talking with Josh we/he agreed I wouldn't help but this year apparently is different so when Madeline called to tell me she wasn't joking about needing my help I told her I would. The next Sunday she gave me a booklet to read over and I would have to sign a paper saying I had read it. Felt like High school when you had to sign off that you read the behavior guidelines. Our church is using the Desiring God Sunday School curriculum from John Piper's church Bethlehem Baptist. For the past two years Emmett, John-Thomas and Stewart have all had different verses to memorize but this year it was decided that all the kids would have same verse and guess what? I have to memorize the verses too. Yikes. I think the adult Sunday School should have to memorize them too but I was told "our church isn't ready for that". Whatever that means. So I have added the first verse to my blog in an attempt to keep it more visible and hopefully help me memorize it. The Hope in God website has everything, even tips on Bible Memorization...I think I'll be needing those tips. I like my daily verses better, could blog about them every day if I thought I could get away with it but this year I am a 2cnd and 3rd grade teacher...Proverbs 3:34 and James 4:6 says that "God gives grace to the humble" I hope he gives some to those kids too the days it is my turn to teach.

"Fighter Verses are strategically chosen Bible verses (English Standard Version or New International Version) that equip believers for the fight of faith. This easy-to-use memory system helps users learn promises of God that faith must lay hold of in order to persevere through tragedy, affliction, and fiery trials. The system is designed for preschool children through adults and allows individuals, families, groups or churches to choose their own speed for memorizing and review."

I'm so glad you posted about this because I was about to ask, "what is a fighter verse?"
I taught 3rd grade twice, once when Hannah was in 3rd and then again when Jacob was in 3rd. Not sure exactly how that worked out, but it did.
