Not my Christmas list!

Even before Melissa started singing These are a Few of My Favorite Things, I had been mulling over things I used to like:
Vera Bradley Backpacks
Red Door Perfume
Mission Style Furniture
Cappuccino Machines
Expensive Clothes i.e. paying retail for Liz Claiborne, Polo, Nike, whatever!

I was wondering why my tastes had changed and is it just a revolving door of likes and dislikes?
After my last visit to a thrift store where I picked up a brown sweater and cute pink skirt, I decided I need to make of list of priority shopping. The sweater had been on a mental list but the skirt had not, neither was the pogo stick or the the 3 ironstone plates with blue transferwear on it.

This is first on my list:
A SilPat baking sheet.

Of course, new cookie sheets/jelly roll pans would be a nice addition as well.
Josh's Aunt Theresa said they have a pizza paddle for rolling out pizza dough on and assembling, might as well add that on my list.

One item that brings me pleasure just by looking at is the Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer my sister Cathron gave me. It encourages me, tells me I can can bake like Martha and helps me focus on something besides my small kitchen.
Oh, and there are rumors that the kitchen will grow by 4 feet and one whole counter. There is even a tease of a half bath on the other side of the washer and dryer. But, I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch. The plans have been drawn, some paperwork submitted. Hmmmm.

But, a Kitchen Aid stand mixer won't work when you have an inclination to make 7 minute icing on the stove top or any other small mix item. So, a little hand mixer would be good as well.

Oh, another thing that should take priority spending is a new living room rug. I bought a cheap one, hoping it would do the trick but a good area rug isn't a bargain item. This one is from Pottery Barn.

Even though I'm not a big fan of Paul Mitchell styling liquid anymore, or Elizabeth Arden Makeup or even high heals, my favorite things really aren't things at all. My husband doing his best not to annoy me is tops on my list, then comes the kids but I think they are still trying to annoy me at this point.

duh, melissa...she is saying that is soooo yesterday and she has new favorite things.....

the pizza peel is a must if you are going to grill pizza...otherwise you just wouldn't be able to peel the pizza off the grill.

p.s. your favorite thing, that isn't a thing, is an absolute favorite of mine, too!!!!!

Robin, Thank you! That was the second laugh at the top of my lungs laugh tonight. The first time tonight may be a secret reveal for a later blog. And, Yes, wasn't that a tease about the kitchen! That's the way I feel too.

Mom, I specifically put that it wasn't a Christmas list because I know you read it! Thanks for the comment.

Melissa, I still like Mission Style furniture, just don't want it for myself anymore. Go Figure.

Robin, You're probably right though, I may have been influenced by a surge in Mission popularity 10 years ago and now that it's faded the desire isn't so strong. I still want a mission style house though.

Is it uncouth to leave so many comments on your own blog?

Grilled Pizza is a must! Tell Josh I said to splurge and go out and buy the pizza paddle. It has many uses...more then just grilling pizza!!!!
