Pills of Promises

"When someone finds out they are going to die in a year or less, do they go to work the next day?" My friend from Palm Bay asked her doctor that question when she found out she had liver cancer and cancer in a couple of other places this week.

That question has been rattling around in my brain...how is Debbie going to live her remaining days in this world that is not our own. How would I live if I was in the same positions. I would like to think that I would be kinder and gentler to my children but probably I would plop my bum in my comfy chair and never get up.

I first met Debbie when she was pregnant with her 4th child, her first boy, while she was organizing/running the "Sunshine Club" during the Thursday Morning Women's Bible Study. A few years later, a few moms and I took our kids over to her house once a week to work on some Spanish and eat lunch together...

In 2004 she threw a scrapbook baby shower for my first girl, all the ladies made a page to go into the album.

Then Hurricane Francis took off all our shingles, mold was everywhere and Debbie offered a room in her house. I didn't know that she had some damage too, but that didn't stop her.

After God moved us to Jacksonville, Debbie found out she had breast cancer (her mom had died from it). She quit homeschooling and started teaching and for two years she has been free from cancer. She has two early teen girls and one that is 11 and her son is 9.

"I know the plans I have you," says the Lord....

That's a hard pill to swallow right now.

I'm sorry you have had to say goodbye to your friend....

Wow. As cheesy and cliche as this sounds, it really makes you realize how short and temporal this life really is......

I personally would probably eat lots of chocolate and curl up into a comfy fetal position and suck my thumb.

I've heard it said that...you should live your life as if you would live forever while living as if you could die tomorrow.
Debbie MAY know how much time she has...we don't know how much time we have.
WE prayed some powerful prayers for Debbie yesterday. I am believing God is still in the healing business.

Sweet sister... only God knows those plans... they are not what we expect or imagine... but we can trust Him... and we can ask Him to help us trust Him... He loves Debbie and her precious family... I'll be praying and petitioning our Father... with thanksgiving, and the peace of God which transcends (goes beyond our ability to understand) will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus...
