Summer=Grandparents & Cousins

Every summer from age 5-14 I went to visit my grandparents in Georgia and most every summer my dad's youngest brother and his kids would be visiting them as well. My cousin Shannon and I used to look like sisters, I haven't seen her in probably 10 years, last time we didn't look so much like sisters but there was a family resemblance.

The first time I met my cousins Geoffrey and Teddy it was during the summer. I was probably 8 years old and was recovering from stepping on a fully lit sparkler with a bare foot. The next time I saw Teddy was at his father's marriage to his present wife and then this month I got the pleasure to see him again. He brought his kids and wife to visit his dad and it was good to learn how we're the same. I don't think we look alike but we are both committed to our kids and family in general.

Tomorrow we head down to see Josh's family and his cousins. Every summer his Aunt Theresa brings her two kids down and we go out on his dad's pontoon boat and drink Margaritas. The town of Sebastian does a quaint 4th of July Parade where they throw out candy from silly floats and occasionally squirt the crowd with water guns. Go figure. Our kids see their grandparents and cousins every summer and so the tradition continues.

I think it is awesome that you and Josh are making the effort for your kids to make memories with their cousins. I have so many growing up with all of mine.

Sounds fun. I hope you enjoyed your day.
I thought, before I read, that maybe that was your brother and sister.
